The Invisible ADHD Intake Map
A structured listening guide for internalized ADHD during intake
Free resource for clinicians
The Invisible ADHD Intake Map is a concise intake and listening guide designed to help clinicians recognize patterns of internalized, masked, or high-compensating ADHD that may not be behaviorally obvious. It is particularly relevant for adults, often women and high-functioning individuals, who present with anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, or relational exhaustion while underlying attentional and activation difficulties go unrecognized.
The tool provides structured prompts, listening cues, and brief clinician notes across key domains such as internal pace versus output, hidden effort, initiation and follow-through, relational load, and lifespan patterns. It supports early-session intakes by helping clinicians identify when a fuller ADHD-focused evaluation may be appropriate.
This resource is not a diagnostic or screening tool. It supports pattern recognition and hypothesis generation during intake and should always be used alongside developmental history, contextual information, observation, and assessment data.
Offered freely as part of MindfulU Institute’s commitment to assessment literacy. Best paired with training in differential diagnosis and clinician calibration tools such as the MindfulU Systematic Observation Map (MU-SOM).
